DALLAS, Texas –
London Broadcasting Company, Inc. announced today that it has completed the acquisition of KCEN-TV NBC 9 from Channel 6, Inc. and Mrs. Sue Mayborn.  KCEN-TV serves the citizens of Temple, Waco, Killeen and Bryan-College Station.

As measured by A.C. Nielsen Company, KCEN-TV is located in the 94th television market in the US and serves approximately 890,000 people in 330,000 households.  The station went on the air in 1953 and had been continually owned by the Frank Mayborn interests.

Terry E. London, President of London Broadcasting, commented:  “We are extremely honored to have the opportunity to acquire KCEN-TV from Mrs. Mayborn.  KCEN is an excellent station with an outstanding news operation. As the Mayborns have done for over 55 years, we are committed to continue to serve the people of Central Texas faithfully and honestly.”

Appointment of Vice-President and General Manager

As part of the transition, London Broadcasting is pleased to announce the appointment of Gayle Kiger as the Vice-President and General Manager of KCEN, replacing Randy Odil, who is retiring.  Kiger comes to KCEN from Little Rock, Arkansas, the 56th television market, where he served as vice president and general manager of NBC affiliate KARK-TV.  London adds, “we are very happy to have Gayle return to Temple/Waco, where he spent four very successful years.  Gayle is a very experienced broadcasting professional committed to serving the viewers, advertisers and employees of KCEN with the highest integrity.”

Committed to Broadcasting and Texas

KCEN is the second broadcast property acquired in Texas by London Broadcasting since its formation, joining the CBS affiliate in Tyler-Longview, Texas.  The Company has also signed a definitive agreement to acquire KBMT-TV licensed to Beaumont, Texas, which is expected to close in the second half of 2009.

London commented, “even in a very difficult economic environment, we intend to expand our television holdings, invest in new technology and strive to deliver outstanding local news and information to our viewers.”  “As a Texas-based company, we believe strongly in the future of this great state and are committed to serving its citizens.”
