Acquisition of KYTX-TV Announces Management Team

DALLAS, Texas –
London Broadcasting Company, Inc. announced today that it has completed
the acquisition of KYTX-TV CBS 19,
Tyler-Longview, Texas, from Max Media for $25 million
KYTX-TV CBS 19 is the CBS affiliate serving the Tyler-Longview, Texas
television market and the nation’s 111th largest Designated
Market Area. The acquisition includes a second digital channel MYTX-TV
18, which is programmed as an independent station focusing on local
and regional sports.

London Broadcasting Company was formed to acquire and operate media
properties in small and mid-sized markets in Texas and the Southwest.

London announced that Phil Hurley and Carl Kornmeyer have been named
to key management positions at London Broadcasting Company.
Phil Hurley – EVP
& Chief Operating Officer, London Broadcasting
Hurley, 59, is a 24-year broadcasting veteran. Most recently, Hurley
has served as President and General Manager of KYTX-TV CBS 19 and
MYTX since he organized and built it in 2004. Previously, Hurley
served as VP and GM of Nexstar Broadcasting’s Beaumont Texas
NBC affiliate and President of Max Media Montana. In 1986, Hurley
built NBC affiliates, KETK in Tyler, Texas and KLSB in Nacogdoches,
Texas. Civically active in Tyler since 1978 including past board
president for TISD, United Way, and Better Business Bureau, Hurley
currently serves as a director for the statewide United Way’s
of East Texas, Tyler Independent School District Foundation, and
the East Texas Food Bank. Hurley also serves as Chairman of the
Tyler Continue Care Hospital.
Carl W. Kornmeyer – EVP & Chief
Financial and Development Officer, London Broadcasting
Kornmeyer, 55, is a 25-year media executive with operational and
financial experience in major market broadcast television, domestic
and international cable television networks, radio stations, music
entities and magazine publications. Kornmeyer held a number of senior
management roles with Gaylord Entertainment Company (NYSE: GET)
and was President of Music, Media and Entertainment. His tenure
included a term as CFO of Gaylord where he directed all financial
activities of the Company. He was among the developers and management
team of The Nashville Network (TNN) and was a senior executive at
Country Music Television (CMT). He was a principal negotiator in
the $1.6 billion sale of TNN and CMT to CBS. Kornmeyer managed a
team in the building of six international cable networks that operated
in 20 countries and grew distribution to over 15 million subscribers.
John Gaston – VP &
General Manager, KYTX-TV CBS 19
Gaston has been in the radio and television business for over 36-years.
Gaston’s broadcast career has spanned from coast-to-coast
with Westinghouse, General Electric and Doubleday Broadcasting.
In 1987, he and partner, Phil Hurley, launched KETK, where Gaston
continued in numerous management capacities before joining CBS affiliate
KYTX as station manager in 2004. Gaston currently serves on the
Carter BloodCare Board of Directors and the University of Texas
at Tyler Cowan Center Advisory Board. He has previously served as
president/chairman of the Better Business Bureau, East Texas Symphony
Orchestra, and the United Way of Tyler/Smith County. Since 1985,
Gaston has been active in numerous community organizations and boards,
including Children’s Miracle Network Advisory Board, East
Texas Advertising Federation, East Texas Crisis Center, the Mental
Health Association, Rose City Kiwanis, the Texas Rose Festival and
the Tyler Museum of Art.
